The recent addition of Fredrik Modin has given a significant boost to the Los Angeles Kings' power play. Modin scored with the man advantage against his former club as the Kings routed the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-0 in the NHL on Monday. "It was a great opportunity for me to get a chance to be back in the playoffs again and be on a team that's right in the mix," Modin said.

Practice time can be drab for NHL players, particularly when they already have logged days' worth of practice during the course of the season. For Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, though, practice time is going to be very valuable over the next few days, as the Kings prepare for a two-game road trip to Chicago on Wednesday and Dallas on Friday. Quick had a memorable February as the No. 3 goalie on the United States hockey team that won a silver medal in the Olympic tournament. But Quick didn't appear in a game and, as the third goalie, also didn't see a lot of action in practice. The rest might have been good for Quick, mentally, but it didn't do much for him in favors in terms of game preparation.

| Kings keep winning after break, 5-1 over Stars (AP) |

That 16-day break between games apparently had no effect on Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings. They just keep winning. Quick stopped 31 shots, Alexander Frolov had a goal and two assists and the Kings beat the Dallas Stars 5-1 on Tuesday night to improve to 11-1-1 in their last 13 games. "You get back to the rink and get into your routine and everything starts to feel natural," said... |
