NHL general managers are trying to find a way to deal with serious head injuries. "I think we all care about the safety of our players, first and foremost," Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Tuesday. | Panthers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) |
|
Whether it's because they are playing with little pressure or because players feel relieved the trade deadline has come and gone, the Panthers have played like a very loose team since Wednesday. The result has been two straight wins for the first time since January. "We really needed this after the month we've just had," goalie Tomas Vokoun said. Florida outscored Philadelphia and Carolina 11-5 in its two wins since the deadline passed as the Panthers have at least held serve in their longshot chase for the postseason. Coach Pete DeBoer says he wants his team to look at Carolina as an example of a team playing "with nothing to lose." Florida's 4-1 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday snapped Carolina's seven-game win streak.
