Jannik Hansen put his body into his winning goal and was thankful for a couple of fortunate bounces. After all, the puck rattled around and glanced off him and the goalie before finally going into the net for the decisive score in the Vancouver Canucks' 6-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.

First place in the Northwest Division could be on the line Tuesday night when the Avalanche takes on the Vancouver Canucks at the Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche reached the 80-point mark in the season Saturday with a 7-3 rout of St. Louis and already was thinking about its showdown with the Canucks.

"It's going to be a huge test for us," said Avalanche goalie Craig Anderson, who will make his 21st consecutive start Tuesday. "We've been battling with them all year long, and we've had some good games against them. We have to make sure we have a good, solid effort and limit our mistakes."

The Canucks have beaten the Avalanche three times in a row—3-0, 8-2 and 5-2—since Colorado captured a 3-0 decision in the second game of the season.

The Phoenix Coyotes have acquired left wing Wojtek Wolski (VOY-teck VOHL-skee) from the Colorado Avalanche for forwards Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter. The 24-year-old Wolski has 17 goals and 30 assists this season in 62 games. The 21-year-old Mueller has had a disappointing follow-up to his outstanding rookie season.

The Detroit Red Wings are healthy and ready to make a run at the playoffs. That might bad news for the rest of the NHL.
