On Monday night, Tomas Fleischmann was a healthy scratch for the first time all season. On Wednesday night, he scored in overtime for the Washington Capitals. Proving a point, Tomas? "It's a little message," he said. "Don't sit me out again." Fleischmann was smiling when he said it, but it points to the tough lineup-juggling act coach Bruce Boudreau has to perform now that...

Hurricanes Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Hurricanes are making the most of their revamped and, in some ways, inexperienced lineup since a busy trade-deadline day last week.

But after winning two of three games since making five trades, they must brace for Wednesday night's game at Washington. This game comes a week after two trades between the teams, so the Hurricanes will see former teammates Scott Walker and Joe Corvo wearing Capitals uniforms. Defenseman Brian Pothier went from the Capitals to the Hurricanes in the deals.

The Hurricanes already consider Washington a primary rival, so this game now takes on a certain awkwardness. It was probably odd enough that the Hurricanes were so active in trading with a team in the same division.

The other thing that comes into play is that teams face division...
