| Wilson, Ellis lead Predators past Thrashers (AP) |

A week ago, the Atlanta Thrashers looked like a surprise playoff contender even without Ilya Kovalchuk. Not anymore. | Thrashers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) |
|
When a team is fighting for a playoff spot, losing back-to-back games to division rivals isn't exactly the way to go about it. One day after an embarrassing effort in a 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Thrashers put forth an even less inspired performance and lost 4-0 to the Carolina Hurricanes. Atlanta fell behind early, took too many penalties, didn't get enough shots and put on a snooze fest in front of its home supporters. It was the kind of game that would make Atlanta's few and proud season-ticket holders start to search for a better way to invest their money. Generally, all fans want is an honest effort. Give them one and they will be happy. This was not an honest effort, and those who stayed until the end weren't happy.
