MONTREAL - Less than 30 minutes after taking over as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Pierre Gauthier had already managed to settle two of the biggest questions facing the team.

From his time as captain to his tenure as general manager, Bob Gainey has spent a lifetime providing leadership for the Montreal Canadiens. Now, he's handing the reins to a trusted colleague. Gainey stepped aside Monday as Montreal's general manager and was replaced by assistant Pierre Gauthier in a surprising front-office shake-up for hockey's most storied franchise.

Tuukka Rask was pretty much all that stood between Boston and a blown lead. Not to mention a record the Bruins would have wanted no part of. The goalie stopped 36 shots, including 15 in a frantic second period after Boston took an early lead, and the Bruins snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Montreal on Sunday night.

TORONTO - Mike Komisarek was only "one hit away from completely blowing his shoulder up," according to Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Ron Wilson, who said the defenceman's decision to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery was made in the best interests of the NHL team.

The Canadiens suffered another serious blow to their playoff hopes when left winger Michael Cammalleri injured his right knee in the Jan. 30 game in Ottawa. The good news for the Canadiens is that Cammalleri won't require surgery. The bad news is that he will be out for six weeks.

"I knew right away it was the knee," said Cammalleri, who was hit by Ottawa defenseman Anton Volchenkov. While Cammalleri said he respected Volchenkov as an "honest" player, he thought there should have been a penalty on the play.

"He caught me with my guard down because I didn't touch the puck," said Cammalleri. "I thought it might have been an interference call."

The injury means that the Canadiens are missing two-thirds of what had been their most productive line—Tomas Plekanec...

The Montreal Canadiens finally gave Jaroslav Halak an opportunity to bounce back from a loss and he delivered a stellar performance and a huge win. Halak made 45 saves, Sergei Kostitsyn, Maxim Lapierre and Tomas Plekanec scored, and Montreal snapped Vancouver's seven-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory over the Canucks on Tuesday night.

MONTREAL - Michael Cammalleri will be out for about six weeks with a knee injury but the good news for the Montreal Canadiens' top scorer is that he won't need surgery.

The Montreal Canadians top-scorer Michael Cammalleri will be out for about six weeks with a knee injury. The team announced Tuesday that he won't need surgery. Cammalleri was injured during a 3-2 overtime loss Saturday in Ottawa when he fell awkwardly into the boards after being hit by Anton Volchenkov.
